Hi, I'm Shingo Suzuki, also known as Suzushin.
This is the very first article on Suzushin Lab.
Honestly, I wasn't sure where to begin. But starting a blog seemed to call for an introduction first.
So I'd like to explain why I've started Suzushin Lab and what I plan to write about.
I want to turn my life around
I have one big goal: I want to turn my life around.
That might sound a little dramatic! It's half a serious ambition and half a declaration to myself.
Am I satisfied with where I am now? Honestly, not yet. I've long felt an urgency, or impatience, that simply letting the days pass won't change much.
So rather than stay still, I decided to start trying different things.
Sharing the process of taking on challenges
I don't have a single secret move that will transform everything. I suspect a turnaround comes only from steadily tackling different challenges and figuring them out one by one.
Here, I want to share what I'm actually trying, without hiding it:
- Trying seriously to improve at a hobby
- Creating something from scratch
- Figuring out how to work with AI
- Things that fail or don't go well
I don't intend to collect only polished success stories. I'd especially like to write honestly about difficult periods and the uncertainty along the way.
Challenges I've already begun
I started several things even before this blog.
For example, chess. I'm still a beginner, but numerical ratings alone didn't motivate me enough. I made my own dan and kyu ranks so I could enjoy working toward improvement.
I've also started inventing original games through a Game Workshop. That includes bringing back a card game I first devised to pass the time in hospital.
And I'm experimenting with AI every day. Making everything more efficient isn't necessarily the goal. I've found that I want to preserve the things I enjoy doing with my own hands.
I'll keep documenting these individual challenges here.
What I want to value in this blog
There's one thing I especially want to keep in mind: enjoying the process as well as the result.
Of course, I want to improve and achieve something. But focusing only on outcomes can make the journey painful.
I'd rather enjoy the time spent asking how something could be more interesting or work better. By sharing that process openly, I hope I can offer a little encouragement to others trying things too.
The articles I plan to write
These are the themes I have in mind:
- Serious attempts to improve at hobbies such as chess
- Developing and refining original games in the Game Workshop
- Experiments in how to work with AI
- Other challenges and things I become curious about
I'm still finding my way. I probably won't limit myself to a single subject. But the underlying theme stays the same:
Taking on challenges, learning my way through them, and trying to turn my life around.
I'll keep sharing that process here.
I'd be happy if you followed along
Thank you for reading this far.
I haven't become anyone remarkable yet, but I'd like to show myself gradually taking on different things and figuring them out. If you'd like, I'd be glad to have you watch the journey.
And if you're thinking of trying something yourself, I hope this article and the attempts ahead might give you a little push.
Thank you for joining me. See you in the next article!
